A PRACTICAL STUDY ON PROCEDURES TECHNIQUES OF MAJOR ASSEMBLING OF COMPUTING DEVICE

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

The rapid evolution of technology has made computing devices an integral part of modern life. From personal computers to servers, the assembling process of computing devices involves a series of intricate procedures and techniques. Understanding these procedures is crucial for ensuring the efficiency, performance, and longevity of these devices. This study delves into the practical aspects of assembling major components of computing devices, highlighting the methodologies and best practices involved. The significance of this study is underscored by the increasing demand for custom-built computing solutions tailored to specific needs in various sectors, including education, business, and research.

Computing is intimately tied to the representation of numbers. But long before abstractions like the number arose, there were mathematical concepts to serve the purposes of civilization. These concepts include one-to-one correspondence (the basis of counting), comparison to a standard (used for measurement), and the 3-4-5 right triangle (a device for assuring a right angle).

The earliest known tool for use in computation was the abacus, and it was thought to have been invented in Babylon circa 2400 BC. Its original style of usage was by lines drawn in sand with pebbles. Abaci, of a more modern design, are still used as calculation tools today. This was the first known computer and most advanced system of calculation known to date - preceding Greek methods by 2,000 years. Computing is any goal-oriented activity requiring, benefiting from, or creating algorithmic processes—e.g. through computers. Computing includes designing, developing and building hardware and software systems; processing, structuring, and managing various kinds of information; doing scientific research on and with computers; making computer systems behave intelligently; and creating and using communications and entertainment media. The field of computing includes computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, information systems, and information technology.

The discipline of computing is the systematic study of algorithmic processes that describe and transform information: their theory, analysis, design, efficiency, implementation, and application. The fundamental question underlying all computing is "What can be (efficiently) automated?"

The assembling of the computer system is exactly the opposite of disassembling operation. Before starting to assemble the computer system, make sure you have the screws and a screwdriver for those.

The first step for assembling the computer system starts with mounting the processor on the processor socket of motherboard. To mount the process, you don't need to apply any force. The special ZIF (zero insertion force) sockets are usually used to prevent any damage to the processor pins. Once the processor is mounted, the heat sink will be attached on top of processor. The CPU fan is also attached on top of heat sink.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Despite the proliferation of computing devices, there remains a gap in comprehensive knowledge and application of effective assembling techniques. Many individuals and organizations face challenges in assembling computing devices due to a lack of standardized procedures, resulting in suboptimal performance and reduced lifespan of these devices. This study aims to address these challenges by providing a practical guide on the procedures and techniques involved in the major assembling of computing devices.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

The main objective of this study is to determine the best practices for assembling computing devices to enhance their performance and reliability. Specific objectives include:

i. To evaluate the impact of standardized assembling procedures on the performance of computing devices.

ii. To determine the most effective techniques for assembling major components of computing devices.

iii. To find out common issues encountered during the assembling process and provide solutions.

1.4 Research Questions

i. What is the impact of standardized assembling procedures on the performance of computing devices?

ii. What are the most effective techniques for assembling major components of computing devices?

iii. How does identifying and solving common issues during the assembling process improve the overall functionality of computing devices?

H3: There are significant improvements in the overall functionality of computing devices by identifying and solving common issues during the assembling process.

1.6 Significance of the Study

This study is significant as it provides a detailed analysis of the assembling process of computing devices, which can be beneficial for technicians, engineers, and hobbyists. By identifying and recommending best practices and effective techniques, this research aims to improve the performance and reliability of computing devices. Additionally, it addresses common issues faced during the assembling process, offering practical solutions that can save time and resources. The findings of this study can also contribute to educational curricula in technical and vocational institutions, enhancing the skills of future professionals in the field.

1.7 Scope of the Study

The scope of this study is limited to the major components involved in the assembling of computing devices, including the motherboard, CPU, RAM, storage devices, power supply, and cooling systems. The study will focus on standard desktop computers and exclude specialized computing devices such as servers, laptops, and mobile devices. Additionally, the study will consider both theoretical and practical aspects of assembling procedures and techniques.

1.8 Limitations of the Study

This study may face limitations such as the availability of the latest hardware components and technology, which could affect the generalizability of the findings. Another limitation is the potential bias in the selection of components and assembling techniques, which may vary based on individual preferences and experiences. Additionally, the study is restricted to standard desktop computers, and the results may not be applicable to other types of computing devices.

1.9 Definition of Terms

Assembling: The process of putting together various components to create a functional computing device.

Component: An individual part of a computing device, such as the motherboard, CPU, or RAM.

CPU (Central Processing Unit): The primary component of a computer that performs most of the processing inside a computer.

Motherboard: The main printed circuit board (PCB) in a computer that connects all the components.

RAM (Random Access Memory): A type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly and is used for storing working data and machine code currently being used.

Storage Device: Hardware used to store data permanently, such as HDDs (Hard Disk Drives) or SSDs (Solid State Drives).

Power Supply: The component that supplies power to a computer.

Cooling System: Components used to remove excess heat from a computer to keep it within permissible operating temperature limits.
